Bard is Google’s ChatGPT rival

Google has introduced “Bard“, a new AI-powered chatbot that is being positioned as a rival to OpenAI’s ChatGPT. Bard is an experimental conversational AI service powered by Google’s LaMDA technology, which stands for Language Model for Dialogue Applications. In a blog post, Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote that Bard is being made available for public testing, with trusted testers being given access first before it is rolled out more widely to the public in the coming weeks. LaMDA is also available for public testing, but access is restricted and subject to approval through Google’s AI Test Kitchen app. Bard is designed to be a more lightweight version of LaMDA, using less computing power and enabling Google to scale to more users. Google says that Bard can be used to simplify complex topics and provide conversational answers, but warns that it may provide inaccurate or inappropriate information. The company is looking to bring its latest AI advancements, including LaMDA, into its products, starting with search. A suite of tools and APIs will be developed over time to make it easier for others to build more innovative AI applications.
