Sony and Astar Network Join Forces to Explore the Potential of Web3 & DAOs

Sony has recently teamed up with the Astar Network to launch a Web3 incubation program for projects that focus on non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). It’s kind of like a tech-y matchmaking service, with Sony hoping to find solutions to some of the problems they face in their industry. In other words, they’re hoping to find a blockchain knight in shining armor to sweep them off their feet.

The program will run from mid-March to mid-June, with Startale Labs in charge of organization. And let’s be honest, with a name like Startale, they’re bound to be out-of-this-world.

Applications for the program are open from February 17 to March 6, so don’t wait until the last minute to get your NFT-loving self signed up. If you make the cut, you’ll be part of a cohort of 10 to 15 people and have access to some seriously cool learning sessions from venture capital firms like Dragonfly, Fenbushi Capital, and Alchemy Venture.

In case you didn’t know, Astar Network is one of the first parachains to come to the Polkadot ecosystem. Last month, they teamed up with Toyota for a Web3 hackathon, proving that they’re basically the cool kids on the block.

If your project is accepted into the program, there’s a chance Sony Network Communications might invest in it. Who knows, your NFT might just be the next big thing.

Sony is clearly jumping headfirst into the Web3 world, announcing a motion-tracking metaverse wearable called Mocopi back in November 2022. So, if you see someone walking around with a blinking wearable on, just know that they’re probably more plugged into the future than you are.
